NUORO
Nuoro is a town situated in the heart of Sardinia and it’s the capital of Barbagia. The town stretches for 550 meters above the sea level and it gets a mild climate.
Nuoro is defined the sardinian Athens because many artists and writers passed through it. Among ancient neighborhoods, we count Séuna and Santu Predu, respectively lived by farmers and craftsmen ; pastors and landowners.
The town arises at the foot of Mount Ortobene (high 955 meters), characterized by majestic granitic rocks.

1) Statue of Redentore
A bronze work placed on the top of Monte Ortobene, at 925 meters on the sea level.

2) Cathedral of Santa Maria della neve
Cathedral dedicated to Madonna della Neve, patroness of Nuoro. It has a neoclassic style. It’s situated in a large square of the historical center of the town.

3) Church of Madonna della solitudine
Church of ‘600. Nuoro people meet each other just there for festivals and civil celebrations. These feasts were characterized by dancing, local singing and a plenty of food. It’s a famous church because there’s the sarcophagus of the writer Grazia Deledda in it.

4) Church of Madonna delle Grazie
Church built at the end of XVII century, in the ancient neighborhood of Seuna. In it there are fine mural paintings of sardinian artists of XVII century.
