Domus de janas l'Agliola

Domus de janas means fairy house! There’s no magic, but more than six thousand years ago, in these tombs, it was common to believe in the presence of good and evil spirits.

In Budoni, we have the Domus de janas, L'Agliola, in the village of Solità, a "house" built, rock by rock, without using tools. The Domus de janas were built to honour the dead in those ancient times, giving them a continuity with earthly life, even after death. The walls were painted with red ochre, a colour that represented life and regeneration in the afterlife.
